Michael Powers, originally from the Boston area, began playing the drums at the age of 7 and later studied with famed
jazz great Alan Dawson before enrolling at Berklee College of Music where he graduated in 1992. Throughout his career,
Michael has performed in a variety of Jazz, Funk, R & B and Rock bands including Greenworld recording artists Tyrus
(lead vocalist, drummer, and songwriter), independent hard rock band Suntower (lead vocalist and arranger) and the
Jandee Lee Porter Band who opened for major acts including The Zac Brown Band, Jo Dee Messina, and Reba McIntyre.
Michael has also performed percussion in several theater productions including Party of One and Groucho: A Life in
Review at Boston's Theater Lobby. He has also sung the national anthem for the Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins alumni
and the Boston Cannons and was a featured drummer and vocalist on the Boston based Odyssey cruise line for four years.
In 1997 Michael joined one of the most sought-after Boston based dance bands, The Stardust Band, and spent the next 17
years performing drums and vocals at hundreds of weddings throughout New England as well as corporate events in
Boston, New York, Chicago, Florida, and Arizona. For the last 11 years Michael has led the Lucky 13 Band and the MP3
Jazz Trio where he performs at corporate/collegiate events, weddings, and clubs.
